Tesco Mature Cheddar and Red Onion crisps

Tesco Mature Cheddar and Red Onion crisps

When a hungry 29 year old man comes home and helps himself to a sneaky crisp, and his first comment is ‘Hmmmm, I guess I can eat them. Do we have anything else?’ You know they aren’t good.

Sadly my experience was no better. These crisps are the opposite of mouthwatering. In fact, I think they may make you retract saliva.

Firstly, they’re too thick and it doesn’t seem like they’re supposed to be. Tesco is clearly trying to take on the more established premium brands but clearly had a sub-par manufacturer. This creates a terrible mouthfeel.

I had hoped that at least the flavour would be good - cheese and onion is a classic of course. Unfortunately, the crisps come across as weirdly fungal at best. More blue cheese in the sun than delicious cheddar.

These crisps are also too oily - noticeably so. They left a sheen on my fingers! Finally, to add insult to injury they also have too much overt flavouring which leaves mouldy cheese dust everywhere.

Get Fruity’s strong advice is to save yourself the £1.80 and invest in any other crisp. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
